STUDIO POLICES AND PROCEDURES

• We offer two payment options for your convenience:

1) Full Tuition payment (September 2011-May 2012) or Half Tuition payment ( Sept-Dec/Jan-May)

A payment for the full year’s tuition will be accepted in the form of cash or check.

2) Automated Monthly payments

Auto pay is an automatic deduction from your debit card or credit card (Visa, Discover, or MasterCard). Tuition will be automatically deducted of each month.  Tuition is charged your account on the 1st of each month. As stated in our policies and procedures, an add/withdraw form must be signed and submitted to the office within 15 days of the corresponding month that the student will no longer be taking classes. Tuition charges will continue to incur otherwise, regardless of attendance.

The first month’s tuition and fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable. If a student drops out of classes for more than 30 days, they are inactive and must officially re-register and pay the registration fee.

There will be a $25.00 charge for late payments received after the 5th of each corresponding month, NSF Checks, and Declined Credit or Debit Cards. Please also be aware of expiration dates on check/credit cards. If S.P.A.C receives more than 2 NSF Checks, we will only take cashier's checks or cash for your payment.

Smitty’s P.A.C. reserves the right to have students sit out of classes if their account has an outstanding balance (including unpaid late fees) until such account is paid in full.

Class rates are based on a minimum required enrollment, if a class falls below this requirement we reserve the right to cancel the class or shorten class time.

Monthly tuition rates are not affected by holidays; tuition is based on the number of classes for the year.  Please note Smitty’s holidays may be different than school holiday schedules.

Costume fees apply to each class your child that is enrolled in. Payments are nonrefundable, but may be transferred within the same family account before November 30th, 2011. Payments are nonrefundable and nontransferable after December 1st, 2011.

Family Discount

A 5% discount per child on tuition will be given to families with two or more children attending dance classes at S.P.A.C.

Drop/Withdrawal Classes

All class changes including withdrawal from a class must be submitted in writing by completing an

Add/Withdraw Form. Should it become necessary to discontinue classes for any reason, an Add/Withdraw Form must be signed and submitted within 15 days of the corresponding month that the student will no longer be taking classes. Otherwise, tuition charges will continue to incur, regardless of attendance.  No refunds will be given. Classes added during the month also require completing an Add/Withdraw Form and must be paid for prior to beginning the additional classes. Add/Withdraw Forms are available in Smitty’s Office.  We will not accept phone calls or emails for withdrawals.

Trial Class/Placement

It is recommended that students try a class prior to officially registering for a class to ensure it is the appropriate level and style for the dancer. Trial/placement classes are $11 each and can be put towards the current month’s (month of trial class) tuition upon officially registering. The studio reserves the right to deny enrollment from any class they are not qualified to attend.

Dance Etiquette

Students are required to follow proper dance etiquette as posted outside each dance studio. This includes, no gum chewing, drinking and/or eating in any studio or classroom except for the activities room (closeable water bottles are allowed).

Dress codes will be strongly enforced. If a student does not have the proper dance attire, we will send a Dress Code Warning slip home with them. If the problem is not corrected within a week, Smitty’s reserves the right to have that student observes class.

Smitty’s reserves the right to have students arriving 10 minutes or more late to class, or those who do not dress in appropriate dance attire, to sit out the remainder of class and just observe. Warm up is critical in preventing injury and to enhance the productivity of the class.

Drop Off/Pick up

Parents are welcome to drop off their children just prior to class. Please bring them prepared for class and on time. For the safety of our students, we ask that you have them wait inside the studio (not outside) until their ride gets to the studio. Children under the age of 7 should never be left waiting to be picked up after classes. Students of any age should not wait more than five to ten minutes after class for their ride. Abuse of this rule may result in a student’s removal from classes at the studio.

Injury Liability

Parents, legal guardians of minor students and adult students waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on studio property resulting from normal dance activity or any other activity conducted by the students before, during or after class.

Every student that participates at S.P.A.C. must have a medical release form filed and completed.

Photographs

Smitty’s is hereby granted permission to take photographs of the student to use in brochures, web sites, posters, advertisements and other promotional materials the school creates. Permission is also hereby granted for Smitty’s to copyright such photographs in its name.

Training

Dance education is a very physical activity. At SPAC we believe that physically touching and adjusting your dancer to assure proper placement is sometimes needed to assure proper training.

Lost & Found

Students and Parents are to be aware that Smitty’s is not responsible for lost and/or left items here at the studio or at studio functions (recitals, competitions, etc.). All items left here at the studio are placed in lost and found which is periodically donated to Goodwill.

Smitty's Spectacular

A minimum attendance level is required. Students missing more than 5 classes after March, may not be allowed to participate in the year-end dance recital regardless if a costume has been paid for or not.

Students participating in the recital must be able to attend both shows and all rehearsals. Failing to communicate this to our staff in January to make adjustments for the class and choreography will result in possible probation for the following dance year.

Students that withdrawal between Dec 1st, 2011 and May 31, 2012 will not receive any costumes that were purchased for Smitty's Spectacular.

S.P.A.C Spectacular parent packet will be available in February 2012.  This packet will contain all details included with our year end production.

Make-up Classes/Closings

Please notify the studio if your child will be missing class due to illness or otherwise.

There are no make-up classes or refunds for missed classes.

If S.P.A.C. is closed due to severe weather or snow, your dancer will be able make up his or her class.  Your dancer may attend the same style within one level of your enrolled class. This must be done within one week prior to date of closing.

For weather closings please check Grand Island's main sources 107.7/News Station 5/smittyspac.com/or our answering machine @ 384-2787.

Parent Responsibility

It is the responsibility of the parent/student to be aware of all studio activities, such as shows,

rehearsals, and dates the studio is open or closed. Please refer to your studio calendar. The studio will post all notices on the information bulletin board in the studio, and within the monthly emails sent out. It is the parents/students responsibility to regularly check all of these sources to ensure they are informed. It is also the responsibility of the parents/students to inform the school of any student contact information changes. Please check our web site monthly for information updates.

Parents are responsible for the purchase of tights and shoes.  A list of our recreational tights and shoes are available on our website under our dress code.  They will be the same shoes and tights that we require for the annual production.

Parent Visitation

Although there are observation windows in each studio, please be aware that you may be distracting your child’s learning, which is why teachers may choose to keep the curtains closed during lessons.  There will be 2 Visitation Weeks scheduled throughout the year to allow you to see your child’s progress.  Please feel free to ask your student and your student’s instructor if you have questions about their personal progress.
